Hi! I'm Wendy Jones, and I'm a therapist in Simi Valley , CA. I am also a wife, Mom and LGBTQIA+ advocate and ally. I work with individuals that experience depression, anxiety, addiction , relationship and family of origin issues. I specialize in working with teens and adults that are in the LGBTQIA+ community, with a focus on transgender people and their journey. I have many years of experience working in schools, hospitals, treatment centers, county mental health facilities and individual private practice. My experience enables me to offer effective and individualized psychological care. I treat a number of mental health issues, and provide a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples. Since the COVID-19 pandemic requires social distancing, I have transitioned to on-line teletherapy. I have found that my clients are doing well with this format, as it allows us to connect and talk in the comfort of their own home. I utilize a confidential, HIPAA apporoved platform that is free and easy to use. I am able to work with anyone in California through teletherapy.
Are you feeling overwhelmed with something that you just can't figure out on your own? Are you needing a safe space to work on yourself or a relationship in your life? Therapy is often the starting point in facilitating the change that you are hoping to achieve in your life. My focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. I achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, providing support without judgement and customizing a treatment plan with you that will facilitate the needed changes to help you feel better and live your best life.
My promise is to be there for you every step of your journey. My goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to become your most authentic self! I look forward to hearing from you!
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through our work together in therapy, I am able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had so that you can live your best life.
Our gender identity is something that we are typically aware of between the ages of 3 and 5. Due to different reasons, largely biological, a person's gender identity (in their brain) may not match up with the sex that they were assigned at birth. Not everyone is aware of what is going on at a young age, let alone supported for it. There are many gender expressions and variations, and I am a safe person to help you explore your gender. I provide education, resources and support to help you find your way. I also have experience in assisting and supporting family members and/or partners on this journey.
Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are a place to explore what isn't working, heal areas of hurt, and find new ways to connect in healthier, more productive ways. Learning to communicate in new and more helpful ways is often a great starting point to making change.
